B TROOP 2/17TH CAVALRY ASSOCIATION REUNION 2002

This year's reunion will be held in Washington D.C over the Veteran's Day weekend, Friday thru Sunday November 8th, 9th and 10th, 2002.

A/O

Our A/O will be the Crowne Plaza Hotel located in Arlington, Va. and they have put together a great package deal for us. It is part of the Crystal City Mall complex (shopping for the wives), very close to the Metro Access and a hop, skip and a jump to the Pentagon City Mall. They also have shuttle service to/from National Airport.

It is called the Stars and Stripes Reunion Package and you will receive rooms with a king or queen sized beds for a great price of $89.00 per night, plus tax. We have a block of 50 rooms at that price and we have arranged to have several rooms saved prior to the 8th for the early arrivers and several rooms saved for the 11th for those of you who want to stay the extra day.

If you have been in D.C. you already know it is not an inexpensive place to stay or eat. (I just received my VVI newsletter and they think they got a deal for rooms in another Alexandria, VA. hotel at $299.00/single, that includes 2 nights & 2 breakfasts. The National Chapter 101st Abn. Div. Asso. has arranged rooms for $94.00 per night plus a parking fee and $30.00 just for a luncheon).

Crowne Plaza, like many of the other hotels in the area have a secure underground parking area and also charge guests a fee to park in their overnight garages. If you've been in that area you already know that parking is at a premium. I have been advised that the Crowne Plaza will waive the parking fee for our members staying at the hotel.

Reunion Package & Fees

In order to get these great prices we had to select a reunion package, which made us change the way we used to do things in the past.

BANSHEE VETERAN REGISTRATION FEE:

This year the registration fee is $100.00 per Banshee veteran. This includes the use of our hospitality room Fri/Sat & Sun. The cost of the hors d' oeuvres, cheese display & snacks at the "Welcoming Reception" in our Hospitality Room on Friday. Of course we will have a cash bar available on Friday evening.

The fee also includes the cost of an elegant, three course Dinner/Meeting, which will be held Saturday night in the Crowne Plaza ballroom, not to mention the cash bar prior to and after the dinner.

It also includes a Breakfast Buffet both Saturday and Sunday. Sorry, we cannot have a cash bar for breakfast.

Finally, the registration will also go toward the attendee's gift. The registration fee must be sent in along with your registration form as soon as possible.

Guest Fees

BANSHEE ADULT GUEST FEE:

The hotel package also included a price for adult guests that will be attending the reunion with you. (We have to work out a price for children and where the cut off is between adult and children).

Each adult guest will be charged $80.00 in addition to your registration fee. This charge also pays for your guest's munchies on Friday night, their breakfast Saturday morning, the gala dinner/meeting and breakfast on Sunday. If you would like to have them receive the same reunion gift that you do, you will have to include the extra $20.00. That would make their fee the same as yours. $100.00.

We do not want to scare you about the extra fee for your adult guests, so we felt that you do not have to send the money for them in with your registration fee, unless you want to do so and get it out of the way. It can be sent in at a later date, but please let us know how many guests you plan on bringing when you send in your registration form and fee.

ALL GUEST FEES MUST BE PAID TO US NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 31, 2002.

If you have been to any of our reunions in the past, you have seen how hard Randy Kunkleman works trying to keep track of the money, who paid what and how much. It has always been a problem for him trying NOT to make mistakes and make someone mad. This year, we felt that we might be able to alleviate some of these problems by having the attendees and their guests pay for their meals in advance.

Once we receive your registration form and fee, we will send you a reunion packet with a proposed schedule of events, both our own and special events that will be occurring around the D.C. area for this special event.

REMEMBER!!!! YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN RESERVATIONS AND THE COST OF THE ROOMS FOR EACH NIGHT. THE ASSOCIATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COLLECTING AND PAYING FOR THE FOOD, MEALS, HOSPITALITY ROOMS AND THE GALA DINNER/MEETING.

Who Can Attend

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

We would like to remind you that you do not have to be a member of the B Troop 2/17th Cavalry Association to attend the reunion. But, we would like to remind you that if you want to vote in any official business of our Association conducted during our Annual Dinner/Meeting you have to be a paid up member.

If you can't afford to join now, we will have applications at the reunion.

Congratulations to Janet DeVos, one of our Honorary Members of the Association who has attended several of our reunions. For those of you who don't know Janet, she is on active duty in the US Army. We have been notified that Janet will be promoted to Sergeant Major on Monday April 1, 2002.
