Camp Eagle; circa 1971

When I got to Nam in Late Aug 71 I was assigned to A Company 101st Air Mobil Division. I knew of The Commanchero's" because my best friend in flight school had already been assigned there. I thought it would be great to be in the same unit with Tom, so I requested to be assigned to A Company when I got in country. You can imagine my surprise when I got what I asked for.

I was with the Commanchero's till Dec when the 101st was sent back to Ft. Campbell. I went to the Delta. Anyway, I am attaching some pics that shows a little of Eagle as viewed from "The Hideout". Our AO was between the Division and the 2nd of the 17th. The pic of my friend standing on top of the grave was behind our hooches looking West up the hill towards the 2/17th. I think the red building in the distance may have been the Cav's OClub. (Went to my first in country party there.) The other pic looking out across the LOH's is toward the northwest towards the Division. (Their mess had real ice cream.) The last pic is of me ringing the F...g bell during my initiation into the Commanchero's.

I just put another pic in with the whole mess. It's of me standing infront of one of our UH1H's after the unit had stood down from operations. That would be in late December 71.
